Dilly is a 12 month old small terrier and is currently on foster in Oxford.
The Dilly Fact File
Dog status: Excellent. Would love to live with other Terriers or at least other dogs.
Cat status: Wants to play. Could be rehomed with confident cat
Child status: Nervous of young children. Could be rehomed with children over 10.
House training: Good but does need reminding to go when playing.
Home alone: Fine for short periods but has only been left with company.
Basic training: Knows the basics but she is a bright dog and would love to learn more.
Special Trick: Barking at her reflection in the greenhouse glass!
Dilly is everything a terrier should be, bright, enthusiastic about life, comical, loving and fun; a tiny bundle of terriorist!
Dilly loves to play and cuddle up with the other terriers she is in foster with and looks to them for confidence and guidance when she is unsure so would be better rehomed with company. They would need to be tolerant of her wanting to play!
Dilly has met cats and wants to play with them as well so could be rehomed with a confident cat with the correct managed introductions.
Dilly is very people friendly and loves to meet new people but can be nervous around noisy children so would be best rehomed with older children who understand that Dilly may be small but isn’t a toy. We would suggest that the children would in this case be 10 plus.
Dilly is an intelligent dog who has some basic training however she gets excited and distracted and just wants to play. She walks well on the lead but does need further work with her recall but she is young and she is eager to please. She has chewed some things in her home but this isn’t thought to be a stress response; just puppy behaviour. Her housetraining needs a little fine tuning! She is clean through the night but sometimes in the day she gets so carried away with playing that she will forget to ask to go out so still needs to be let out regularly. She travels well in the car and is good at the vets but finds it a bit scary and is very quiet hoping no one will notice her. She will need a secure garden as she is a small Jack who could easily squeeze through small gaps.
Dilly is a mischievous young pup looking for a family that can continue with her training while understanding that while she is confident in the home she can get nervous in the big wide world and needs patience and a good role model to help her.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered (if over 6 months), vaccinated, flea treated, wormed and micro-chipped prior to adoption. If a puppy is not old enough to be neutered then this must be carried out at the owner’s expense when old enough, and the relevant form completed by the vet and returned to Hope Rescue. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk
