Just had a look online at my local dog kennels and there is a yorkie there and also a westie dog both found within the last week, I wish I could help, how long are the dogs held before anything is decided or are all kennels different?

Re: Wirral dog pound
I think normally they hold them for 7 days, Some pounds will rehome those that are not claimed, but some do not and after the 7 days they are pts. Horrible world we live in. x

Re: Wirral dog pound
The westie is on his 7th day today and the yorkie will be tomorrow, they were both found local to me and its hard to think of them being there for christmas, I have been to the council pound and its not nice. There are a lot of staffies there too which is a shame. I wonder.....

Annmarie, you can always give them a ring, that way you will get accurate info on them and that specific pound and how they work.

You might even find they have someone lined up for them after the 7 days hopefully. If not maybe you could get in touch with admin or Sue about the Yorkie after you have found out more.

Re: Wirral dog pound
Just spoken to the warden of the pound, both dogs are up for adoption and there has been numerous calls of interest for both dogs so fingers crossed they won't be there for long, I will keep my eye on them over the next few days xx

Re: Wirral dog pound
How do you find out aboout local dog pounds to view online ?
I know where i live the stray dogs go to Battersea dogs, or a nominated boarding kennels.
I dont think we have an online site where we can view strays in a pound.

Re: Wirral dog pound
Our dog pound is part of the local council so I just put Wirral dog pound into google and up it pops and there is a kennels gallery linked to it, such a lot of dogs in there and also fosterers attached somehow too as some of the longer standing dogs are still being looked after, mainly staffies which is a cryng shame xx
