Annie - Young Staffie x Pug (?) in South Wales (Hope Rescue) Empty Annie - Young Staffie x Pug (?) in South Wales (Hope Rescue)

Annie is a small staffie cross (we believe she may be staffie cross pug) of around 18 months and is currently on foster in Blackwood, South Wales.

    The Annie Fact File
    Dog status: Very good
    Cat status: Very good
Child status: Good, could be rehomed with children aged 5 plus following successful meetings with them
    House training: Very good
Home alone: Has been left up to 4 hours without problems as long as she has something to chew on.
Basic training: Knows sit and is learning some new skills with her foster home such as taking treats nicely and coming back when called off the lead.

Annie is a little ray of sunshine. A little snuggly, bouncy, loving soul in a petite package. Annie is a staffie cross and came to us from the pound so we do not know her breeding. However, her small stature and her unusual face suggest she may have some pug or cavalier spaniel in her breeding. Whatever breeding she is, she is C.U.T.E!

Annie is living in foster home with another adult dog and with cats. She has been good with both but has a fun loving side so she would be better with confident cats who are used to dogs as she could chase a more timid feline in the name of fun.

Annie has been good with dogs she meets out on walks and with her foster sister. She can be possessive around her food bowl when first settling in and against other things such as chews. This has settled down as she has bonded with her foster sister but a new owner with existing dogs would need to be aware of this and carefully manage feeding times.

Annie has begun some training to come back when she is called off the lead but this will be something a new home will need to continue work on. When she gets off lead Annie can be overwhelmed by the fun and smells to be found in the big wide world and has been known to follow her nose and pretend she cannot hear the calls! Annie is food motivated and an intelligent dog and recall training should be easy to undertake with her.

Annie is a real people dog and a social butterfly. She loves all people and is not looking for a new home where she will live on the sidelines. She wants to be a part of the family and in the thick of everything that is going on. For example in her foster home she sleeps in the kitchen but she was not hugely impressed about that in the first few days and would much prefer to sleep closer to her human carers. She also prefers travelling close to people in the car rather than in the boot. Having said that she is also left as her foster carers go out to work. She has the company of another dog but is settled and has not been distressed or destructive when left. She does like a good chew and something to gnaw on needs to be provided when she is on her own.

Annie is a young, active dog who needs a minimum of one long walk each day. She walks nicely on the lead once the initial excitement has died down. Annie will need a new home with a secure garden as she has been known to squeeze herself through the bars of a baby gate and could easily do this in a hole in the fence.

Annie can not be neutered as yet as she has recently been in season. She will have to be neutered once her hormones settle down and this will be a condition of her adoption and followed up.

All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk
