Trixie is a 2yr old Terrier x and is currently on foster in Wigan Lancs.

    The Trixie Fact File
Dog status: Ok but needs some work
Cat status: OK with confident cats
Child status: Good, could be rehomed with children aged 6 years plus
    House training: Perfect
Home alone: Has been left for a few hours and been good. Not suitable for full time workers as she is a real people dog and likes to have company.
Basic training: Nice manners in the home, basic training has begun with her foster home

Trixie is a lovely girl, well socialised and good with all people she meets. She is an affectionate dog and loves to give and receive cuddles. She has met children and has been very good in their company. She can mouth sometimes when excited so we would not recommend she live with very young children but could live with those 6 years plus who are used to dogs.

Trixie has not had the best start in life and came in to our care with a skin condition which had gone untreated for some time. She is now fit as a fiddle thanks to the care given by her foster home.
There is still some work to be done with her training however as she was not shown the big wide world in her previous home. She is very nervy when outdoors and finds the world a scary place. Her foster home are gradually exposing her to walks and new places and trying to build her confidence slowly.

Trixie is now walked in a head collar to help her to remain calm on her walks and show her that loose lead walking is preferred. Trixie is living in foster care with other dogs and is good with them but can be overwhelmed by the larger dogs. She would like a home as the only dog or with a smaller male companion (Harry the Jack Russell is her favourite play mate in her foster home).

Out on walks she is scared of other dogs and tries to warn them off with a noisy threat display. Her foster home are working on this with gradual exposure to other dogs and a calm, quiet approach to training. At Hope Rescue we only use positive training methods when resolving behavioural issues.

Trixie has been left for up to 4 hours in her foster home but has always had her canine companions with her. She would not be suitable for a full time worker because although she does not become distressed when on her own she does really love human company.

Ideally Trixie will be looking for a home who are experienced with terriers and have the time to spare for her training. Someone who is around the best part of the day and is looking for a loving new companion.

All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk
