Bella is a 4 year old beagle cross terrier and is currently on foster in Cardiff.

Cat status: OK with confident cats
    Child status: Very good
    House training: 99%
Home alone: Bella finds being alone very stressful and this will need some work from her new home.
Basic training: Basic training good but needs work on recall and lead walking.

Bella is looking for a fun and active new home to match her personality. We believe she is a beagle terrier cross but we are not 100% sure of her breeding as she came to us as a stray from the pound so we have no history for her.

Bella is dog friendly and can be rehomed with canine company or as the only dog. She can be a little afraid of large breeds initially so would probably be better rehomed with dogs of a similar size.
Bella was previously living in foster care with confident cats and was good with them but can chase them out in the garden. Care would have to be taken introducing her to new cats in a home.

Bella did not have a lot of training or input in her life before she came in to our care. Her foster carers have begun some basic training with her and she is a fast learner. She now know sit and waits for her food to be put down before diving in. She will need a little more training from her new home and this will need to include some patient how-to-be-at-home-alone-and-be-happy training! Bella did show some separation related behaviour when she first arrived in her foster home. they have worked hard to desensitise Bella to signs of their leaving and gradually help her to enjoy time alone. She can now be left for around an hour without issues and no longer becomes distressed. She is left with the radio on for background noise and has a stuffed activity toy to keep her busy and help her to look forward to time alone. We must bear in mind that the stress of moving from her foster home could see a resurgence of the previous worried behaviour. Time alone will need to build gradually and include the positive associations.

Bella loves her walks and will not be happy with a 10 minute potter around the block each day. She likes a really good leg stretch and the chance to sniff and have a play with her friends. Her recall is good but not yet perfect!

Bella has never been taught what's hers and what isn't so will pick up anything she finds and chew it. She is extremely good at swapping for something she can chew though. She has never chewed furniture or done any real damage but anything left lying around is fair game to Bella!.

Bella is an agile dog and will need a secure garden in her new home.

All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk
