Kenny is an 8 month old yorkie crossed with something a little bigger and is currently on foster in Cardiff.
The Kenny Fact File:
Dog status: Loves other dogs and would ideally like a new home with canine company
Cat status: Good
Child status: Good, could be rehomed with children aged 8 years plus who are used to dogs
House training: Almost perfect
Home alone: Can be left for short periods if he has something to entertain him such as a chew toy
Basic training: Very good, knows sit, wait, paw and will wait to be told to eat. He does need extra work on his recall.
Kenny is a smashing lad who is looking for an active and loving new home. He came to us as a surrender rather than from the pound so we have a little more history on him than many of our other dogs. We know he has previously lived with another dog and we feel he would like a home with canine company again as he loves other dogs.
Kenny is also good with cats and could be rehomed with fewline friends. He is not the type to ignore a cat though and will try to get them to engage in play so any cats would need to be confident and dog savvy.
Kenny can be nervous and unsure around new people and takes a while to warm up to them. He does not show any aggression but is not his usual chirpy self with new people (although once he realises they can also throw tennis balls for him he soon comes round!). Once he has got to know someone he will be their very loyal and loving companion. He has previously lived with children and can be rehomed with children aged 8 years plus.
Kenny loves to be out and about in the big wide world with the wind rustling through his golden locks! He will be looking for an active home who will take him for regular and varied walks. His recall training needs a little bit of tweaking, his foster home has begun working on this and a new family would need to continue their efforts. However, Kenny does not stray far if he knows the chance of a ball being thrown is on the cards!
Kenny is an intelligent and biddable dog who has a good standard of basic training already and loves to learn. he would be an excellent prospect for a family looking to develop and train a dog for sport such as agility or obedience.
Kenny is still young and likes to use his mouth to explore the world. He needs a good supply of appropriate chew toys to ensure his attentions stay on his own possessions and not yours!
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk
